The insurer managed high volumes of B2B, B2C & B2G invoices across 8+ systems and multiple geographies. The directive 2014/55/EU and the European standard EN 16931 state that, by 2030, traditional paper and PDF-based processes must be replaced with electronic invoices. These regulations required structured data formats, real-time or near-real-time reporting, and integration with national platforms or networks (such as Peppol-based systems). Failure to comply risked penalties, disrupted cash flows, and reputational impact in a sector where accuracy and audit readiness are paramount.
The insurer already ran an RFP and chose a new vendor that would have been used across all the different countries.
Key pain points included:
- Multiple finance software used around the organisation
- Need for scalable integration with multiple tax authority platforms
- Tight timelines driven by country-specific mandates
- Each country had its own requirements regarding electronic invoicing, hence the software needed to be adapted
